We left Sioux Falls this morning to drive across miles and miles and miles of green farmland. One other distinctive thing we've seen in this part of the country is the large number of casinos. Not the big casinos like you see in Vegas, but tiny casinos in strip malls and converted from old fast food joints.
We're continually amazed at just how far you can see as we drive down the highway. It's just breathtaking. We've also discovered that South Dakota is mostly rural. Which certainly explains the 75mph speed limit. If you want to go anywhere, you've got a lot of land to cover. We actually saw some of the same people at our various stops along the way, which is incredible when you consider how far apart they are. But perhaps not as much when you consider that there's not much else in between. It was the first time on the whole trip where we were mindful about being able to stop for gas. It's literally one of those "last stop next 100 miles" type places.
